“Haunted By My Eyes”

If I let you see what is behind the smile would you run?

I am the wolf behind her eyes.

Hated, misunderstood, betrayed, and alone.

They do not want me here.

Perhaps because they can no longer hide,

and pretend to be who they are.

When I'm looking at them they are exposed, for who

they really are, and for this they hate me.

They hate themselves, they hate their lives.

And I reveal all of their secrets and delusions

just by looking at them.

Because I can see the truth.

It's a gift, but for some a curse.

It's not my fault, I never meant them any harm.

They are just who they are, as am I.

Try as you will, to destroy me, but you will fail.

You have only destroyed yourself.

Sometimes this emptiness is so painful,

but you think I would be used to it by now.
