“Velvet Darkness”

As dusk falls softly upon my shoulders like a silken veil.

I rise as nightfall begins the ceremony of flames.

Each night brings the dawn of my soul.

This velvet darkness is my freedom and birth.

As you sleep, I roam; I feel the hunger.

Night has opened her wings to release the wild within this mortal body in which I’m trapped in daylight.

Even when you caught a glimpse of the soft fire behind my eyes, you remained blind to this life I ride.

And as the dawn painfully rips away this magic, mysterious exile of mine, as daybreak rips the fur right from this wolf’s body.

The sunlight is salt burning my bleeding flesh.

I endure in silence.

My eyes still reflect the truth, and I see that disturbs you the most as you recognize me.

I am still that wild animal within.

Free.

As I hide in daylight, evil cloaked in innocence.

Now, I forever am the master of your soul.

To save or destroy?

Only I decide which joy.
